Firies Climb for MND Fund Raising Tours.

As some people may know, as well as taking people on awesome wine tours of the Southern Highlands, I am also a fire fighter in Fire and Rescue NSW.

This year I have joing the Firies climb for MND. This is an event open only to fire fighters, where each participant climbs the all 98 floors or 1504 steps up the Sydney Tower Eye raisng funds to support research into Motor Neurone Disease.

If you haven’t heard of Motor Neurone Disease it is a progressive, terminal neurological disease. There is no known treatment or cure. Each day, in Australia, more than two people die from MND and each day and more than two people are diagnosed with MND. More alarmingly, the death rate for MND in Australia has risen 250%.

To help in my fund raising efforts as part of the Firies Climb for MND I will be donating all profits from two of my tours. That is after taking out the cost of tastings, lunch and fuel for the day all other funds raised by these tours will be donated to Firies Climb for MND.

The dates of the tours are Sunday 26 August and Sunday 2nd September. Numbers are limited to 14 people per tour and we will visit 3 cellar doors as well as enjoying lunch at the Eling Forest Winery Cafe.

To book your place in one of these tours call John on 0410590044 or email john@highlandsfoodandwinetours.com.au

If you are unable to make these tours and you would still like to support John you can also donate at https://firiesclimbformnd.gofundraise.com.au/page/JohnScott

Grape stomping in March

March is harvest time for the vineyards in the Southern Highlands and that means grapes need to crushed.

One of the best ways to crush grapes for red wine is by foot. Feet are gentle enough not to crush the grape seed which can put a bitter taste in the wine.

If you have ever though you would like to foot stomp grapes then this is your lucky chance.

All tours will be visit Eling Forest Winery where you will have a chance to stomp grapes while enjoying a glass of wine and nibbles. (except Sundays)

stomping

These tours on Saturdays are already booked up but we can still run a tour for groups of 6 to 14 on weekdays.

You can book you grape stomping tour here.

Make sure you wear or bring a pair of shorts that you are not worried about getting dirty (they are red wine grapes and if some of the juice splashes on them it may not wash out). A shirt that you are not fond of might be a good idea as well.

Come along and enjoy a day tasting great wine and take on the rare chance to stomp the grapes.
